Alles Klar Greg Mataro 2022

This is a Dry Red Mataro. This old vine Mataro had a strange journey, but eventhually found its way to old French oak after a two-week multi vessel ferment..” – Alles Klar Wines

Mataro – also referred to as Mourvèdre and Monastrell – is a red grape variety that serves as the backbone for many beloved red blends. Known for its bold and robust character, Mataro wines are typically full-bodied, exhibiting high tannin levels and rich, dark fruit flavors, enhanced by savory notes. With excellent aging potential, their flavors evolve and become increasingly complex over time, leading to a softer and more refined palate. Predominantly cultivated in South Australia, Mataro is often blended with Shiraz and Grenache to create the classic “GSM” blend.

Despite coming from old vines, this Mataro is a new world approach to the wine, we chill it to keep it extra fresh and easy drinking.

About Alles Klar

Local Carwyn Cellars, nestled in Thornbury, will always be celebrated as a haven for beer enthusiasts. Yet, wine has always been the first (and possibly true) passion of owners Ben Carwyn and Ben Duval. Carwyn was raised among the vineyards of his family’s winery in Swan Valley, WA, while longtime GM Duval spent his childhood exploring Penfolds in Barossa Valley, SA. With a deep-rooted connection to wine, it was only a matter of time before they embarked on their next vinous venture.

Alles Klar, which translates to “all clear” or “all good,” embodies the fun and laid-back spirit of their new wine project. Their wines are vibrant, fruity, and expressive—perhaps with a touch of playfulness—crafted to be enjoyed young. All the fruit for the Alles Klar 2022 wines has been sourced from long-time friend and innovator of alternative and progressive Australian viticulture, Ashley Ratcliff, and Ricca Terra Farms in Riverland, SA.
