Description

Great Western is part of Central Victoria’s Grampians wine region, one of Australia’s most historic and highly regarded wine regions, in one of the most picturesque natural areas of Victoria. The region is recognised as a cooler climate grape-growing region, with Mediterranean sensibility. The area has enjoyed a long history of viticulture dominated by production of red wines of longevity, elegance and power. The first grapes were planted at Great Western during the 1850’s as the gold mining boom ended and people looked for a more permanent means of livelihood, with Best’s first planting dates back to 1868. Best’s are recognised internationally for the outstanding quality of their Shiraz, this bin no.1 Shiraz is an accessible representation of the essence of Best’s Great Western’s wine making with their focus on letting the fruit tell the story rather than relying on the use of oak or additional treatments. It is a classic, cool-climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that’s floral, spicy and peppery yet retains generous fruit characteristics and intensity.
