Lark Hill ‘Canberra Region’ Shiraz 2019

100% Shiraz from the Canberra Region, ACT

Black Cherry, Spiced Cola, Black Plum Skin

Whilst alot of the news coverage focused on the fires further South, NSW and ACT were dealing with their own anguish. In the Hunter Valley alone, 90% of this years yield will not be made into wine. Canberra were dealing with the some of the worst air quality in the world despite being a distance from the nearest fire. In a heartbreaking statement released by the wine makers Sue, Dave & Chris Carpenter, Lark hill announced that they had decided to not harvest any fruit from their Estate vineyards for 2020. After  testing of fruit from their vineyards the results showed that the grapes had been exceptionally tainted. With quality and consistency being so important, they’re focusing on their previous vintages to see them through. This Canberra district Shiraz is blend of fruit from the smoke tainted Dark Horse Vineyard and the Hilltops. It’s full of ripe, red berry fruits and subtle spice with fine tannins, supporting the core of sweet fruit. Perfect to drink now or later.
