Schonburger is a pink-berried German hybrid involving both Pinot Noir and Muscat Hamburg. This reliable,
early-ripening grape thrives in a cool climate, often with maritime influence. This is the reason it is
predominantly grown in the UK, Germany and closer to home in Tasmania, which is where this expression
is produced. On the steep north facing slopes overlooking the Don Valley in Tasmania’s central North,
Barringwood has one of the longest growing seasons in Tassie, giving their wines delicacy, elegance and
immense complexity. The vineyard elevation and mild growing season is perfectly suited to growing this
aromatic wine varietal with a great minerality and acid balance.
