This Negroamaro from Emphemera is unlike any you have likely seen/drank before. A red grape originating
from Puglia in Italy (and grown almost no where else). It is usually produces a rich red wine with black fruit
flavours. However, the innovative winemakers from this Yarra Valley based winery, press whole bunches for
only a short time on skins, resulting in a ‘blanc de noir’ style wine (white wine made from red grapes) which
has picked up virtually no colour. This skinsy white wine has seen natural primary and malolactic
fermentation, rested on full lees for 3 months producing a rich textural expression which could be mistaken
for a complex sophisticated Chardonnay.
