High in the Adelaide hills, a couple of South African guys are making fantastic Austrian wine including this
aptly named Zsa Zsa Zweigelt. A cross between Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, it holds the crown as
Austria’s most plated red wine grape. However, Hahndorf Hill are the only Australian winery producing this
varietal at this time. Dubbed the perfect picnic wine (think day drinking in the park with friends) this
Zweigelt has a perfumed nose with an explosion of cassis and gentle spice, whilst the palate is vibrant with
fresh cherries, crushed rosemary and clove spice that’s well balanced with a juicy acidity and long, gentle
tannin structure. Drink chilled for the perfect summer red.
